| The Archetypal Cosmology Certificate is a six-course, 12-credit program offered over a nine month period. Combining astronomy with modern depth psychology, archetypal cosmology investigates correlations between cyclical alignments of the planets and archetypal patterns in human experience. The program's sophisticated curriculum explores chart interpretation and transit analysis from an interdisciplinary perspective. Incorporating elements of Jungian psychology and various other models, colleagues (i.e. students) become familiar with archetypal cosmology as a personality theory, psychological language, and diagnostic tool. While much of astrology can be learned through memorization of proper keywords, mastery of the language requires a thorough understanding of its grammar and syntax. The primary value of the program is that it teaches the learner how to think and speak the language of archetypal cosmology. Relevant psychological concepts are thoroughly explained, as are the nature of symbolism and the art of chart synthesis. Each course unfolds into the next so that colleagues learn to interpret charts in a progressively more complex manner. Instruction is supplemented by reading assignments, audio files, and video. For each course, there are written exercises and quizzes that provide immediate, automated feedback. By the end of the program, colleagues will be proficient in knowing how to interpret planets in signs, houses, and aspect, how to track significators and dispositors, and how to reveal the overall plot structure of the chart. Colleagues will also learn how psychodynamics, psychopathology, and healing are articulated within the astrological model, and how astrology can be utilized in counseling to facilitate empathy and deepen therapeutic impact. Transits and progressions are analyzed in terms of psychological growth and development. Particular emphasis is placed on how the birthchart symbolizes a life story capable of being lived on successively higher levels of integration. Upon successful completion of the final exam, students receive a certificate suitable for framing. Program Structure The program entails six courses of 2 credits each, which unfold over a nine month period. These courses may be taken either as a noncredit Certificate Program or as a credit bearing Certificate Program with the courses leading toward an M.A. in Conscious Evolution. Each of the six courses is delivered by interactive processes, including EMLz (electronically mediated learning materials), for a sub-total of 144 clock hours. This provides learning through live classes, audio files and videos, and the explication of readings with support of the instructor. Successful certificate candidates may go on to earn a Master’s Degree (see: www.learn.edu/CEAC), which consists of 24 additional credits involving academic coursework and direct experiences, including readings, written papers and other assignments, for a sub-total of 288 clock hours. A Six Day Symposium Approximately every six months, a unique learning event is convened at the Bethany Campus of The Graduate Institute in Connecticut. During each symposium, a variety of guest presenters offer intense lectures and workshops over a six day period that extends learning within the structure of the overall archetypal cosmology curriculum. Symposia are intended to intensify learning, expand horizons of knowledge, and enhance the ability to apply direct outcomes of acquired understanding. Colleagues in the Certificate Program are invited to attend one symposium as part of their learning experience. For colleagues who wish to complete a Master’s Degree, four symposia are required. Tuition and Fees As a Certificate Program, tuition is $4,116, which can be remitted in installments. A program fee of $385 and an application fee of $60 are required at the time of initial registration. When completed as credit bearing courses, qualified participants will have earned 12 credits toward the 36 credits required for the M.A. degree. Continuing in the degree program requires remittance of $343 per/credit for an additional 24 credits. Total tuition cost for the 36 credit degree program is $12,348. Personal expenses associated with the Symposia (travel, hotel, food, etc.), books and other learning materials are not included in the tuition amount. Additional Considerations Archetypal cosmology is a psychologically sophisticated language that empowers you to provide maximum therapeutic benefit from its application. This is essentially what sets it apart from other approaches: it teaches astrology but also psychology. A variety of psychological concepts are explicitly discussed and seamlessly interwoven with astrology. The result is a deeper, richer, and ultimately more powerful model. If you are looking for an academic program that is systematic, clear, well organized, and on the cutting edge, then our program should suit you. It is especially attractive to individuals who are dedicated to evolving consciously while seeking an in-depth understanding of the scope and nature of archetypal cosmology. |
