The Graduate Institute is dedicated to supporting the needs of health care providers, holistic practitioners, and all individuals focused on health and wellness in a sustainable society.

The Certificate in Integrative Health Studies is a 12-credit program that celebrates health as the optimal alignment of body, mind, and spirit – not merely the absence of disease. The program provides a unique opportunity for cutting-edge practitioners to explore contemporary, mind/body approaches to health and well-being. It is offered under the support of forward-thinking organizations and leading researchers and practitioners.

The Certificate program is self-contained. It also satisfies the requirements for 12 credits toward the Master of Arts degree in Integrative Health and Healing offered by The Institute. Thus, qualified participants who complete the certificate may seamlessly enter the Master of Arts program with 12 credits.

During the 9-month period, a community of approximately 15 participants meets monthly (Friday evening, 5-9pm & Saturday, 9-5pm) to explore aspects of integrative medicine. Each weekend event is devoted to a comprehensive examination of specific protocols and schemes, including but not limited to these topics:

  • Allopathy in context of integrative models

  • Osteopathy

  • Ayurveda

  • Oriental Medicine

  • Homeopathy

  • Naturopathy

  • Energy Medicine (i.e. Reiki and other modalities)

  • Psychoneuroimmunology/Non-local Healing

  • Bodywork and movement therapies

Participants attend weekend sessions, participate in dialogue with presenters and community colleagues, and develop a body of work in an “e-portfolio.” Hands-on experiences with new modalities support understanding, and multiple approaches to teaching ensure that participants of diverse learning styles are empowered to apply ideas in effective ways.
