Holistic Thinking is a 36-credit Master of Arts degree program designed for learners who seek opportunities to discover the sources and processes of thinking, learning and creating meaning. The program’s content develops Colleagues’ abilities to analyze and synthesize a wide spectrum of academic experiences for the purpose of extrapolating personal meaning(s) and for extending worldviews through the internalization of selected conceptual frameworks. Program participants develop personal authenticity through self-study, create a sense of belonging, identify a role in community, and integrate diverse worldviews with confidence and a sense of personal validation as a result of the program’s unique curriculum. The program is dedicated to creating rigorous academic, intellectual and spiritual learning opportunities that expand critical thinking and enhance aesthetic awareness. Each participant is expected to evolve as an intellectual and authentic being, able to define a personal history and describe proposed pathways to enhanced approaches to critical thinking that are generative, integrated, and analytical. This program is designed for individuals interested in exploring the nuances of epistemology, aesthetics, cultural mores and folkways, learning processes, and recent research in meta-cognition.

The Art Educator’s Advocacy Cohort in Holistic Thinking

The “Art Educator’s Cohort” is a cohort within the Holistic Thinking program for Artists and Art Educators aimed at promoting Art education in public schools by  working together on arts advocacy tools and creating materials to be used to teach parents, community members, administrators and teachers why they should support art education in their schools.

The “Art Educator’s Cohort” is a contributor to the establishment of best practices for learning, and is dedicated to increasing the contributions made by the arts in education. Focusing on the integration of mind, body and spirit in the development of holistic curriculum, members of this cohort share what they have learned from integrating hands-on experiences. This program moves culture toward holistic thinking through experiential classes, museum and performance visits, hands-on activities, lectures, dialogue, and a vibrant community experience. The cohort meets monthly for 22 months to engage in interactive learning experiences, to collaboratively conduct research, and to develop new “best practices” for learning art.

Program Highlights:

  • Join this cohort of adult learners respected as thinkers and artists who travel the path together as colleagues and creators of new ways to learn and do Art…

  • Integrate classroom and extensive field study activities with your own notions of how to enhance cognitive and affective development…

  • Complete the M.A. and/or 6th Year Degree in 22 academic months, with classes meeting monthly on Friday evenings 5:00-9:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am-5:00 pm...
