This course is designed to facilitate personal and professional transformation, and begin your journey to holistic nursing certification. The use of intention, presence, and the shift to mind body spirit healing will be cultivated. Holistic nursing principles, values and theories necessary for professional holistic nursing practice are acquired. Your journey to holistic certification begins here.

Carole Ann Drick, PhD, RN, AHN-BC

Dr. Carole Ann Drick has a long rich history in holism and self care for over 35 years. As the immediate past president of the American Holistic Nurses Association, she is a frequent speaker both nationally and internationally on Holistic Nursing, self care, self reflection with Presence as foundational.  Throughout her career, her underlying theme has been shifting the consciousness of both the health care provider and the patient to one of holistic care and living including the use of integrative health approaches.  Board certified as an advanced practice holistic nurse by the AHNCC, Dr. Drick exemplifies holism and brings a rich presence to every encounter as a clear voice for holistic living and holistic nursing practice.  Her presentations are inspiring and reflect her deep understanding on that which she speaks so eloquently. 

Stacey Lane, RN, BSN, MA, HN-BC, HMSI, CCP, CHC

Stacey Lane is the Manager, Care Coordination at Yale New Haven Health Care Systems with responsibilities for promoting disease management and prevention for internal and external clients. She is responsible for overseeing and nurturing a culturally diverse clinically integrated environment, including supporting and educating other healthcare professionals to partner with and engage in their client’s care through shared decision-making in a way that will promote self-care and self-advocacy. This includes promoting personal growth and fulfillment that increases commitment to one-self, sense of value and overall wellbeing.  In addition she is responsible for analytic reporting of evidence based metrics, marketing strategies, providing available resources for health promotion, increasing awareness, and promoting integrated, high valued care in a person and family centered environment. She has been with the Yale New haven Health System for over 20 years.  She is a board-certified holistic registered nurse certified in chronic care, a certified health coach, a certified holistic stress management instructor, and has a master’s degree in Integrative Health and Healing.

Denise M. Romano, MA, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, HN-BC

Denise Romano is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner whose professional experience includes family medicine, holistic health, and comprehensive women’s health. She currently serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Substance Abuse Treatment Unit at the Yale University School of Medicine, and at the Smilow Cancer Center. Denise holds a Master of Arts in Experiential Health and Healing from The Graduate Institute, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Pace University/NY Medical College. Previous positions include family practice and clinical ecology at The Gesell Institute and Clinic Coordinator of Planned Parenthood of VA Beach, where she held an Adjunct Faculty position at Old Dominion University. She is passionate about holistic care; she holds certification as an Acupuncture Detox Trainer, a Holistic Stress Management Instructor and has completed a 4 year program in Energy Medicine. She is currently pursuing an additional degree in Functional Medicine.

Rick Barrett

Rick Barrett has been teaching Chinese internal martial arts and practicing energy healing in New York City for over a quarter century, and has been studying for almost forty years. His investigations into the martial side of taijiquan led to several national championships in taiji Push Hands and to develop what he calls “Love-based Martial Arts.” He demonstrates clearly how the martial artist is empowered by love and hindered by fear and anger. He has practiced Polarity Therapy, craniosacral balancing, and other forms of energy healing for 25 years.

Karen Wexell RN, MSN, HNB-BC, CSPI

Karen Wexell is a passionate holistic nurse leader, educator, and practitioner. She became interested in holistic approaches as a means to introduce the art of nursing back into the high tech healthcare environment. She is one of the early adapters to holistic nursing recognizing its importance in giving excellent heart-felt care. She is a graduate of Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing, received a BSN from Central CT State University and MSN from the University of Harford.  Karen is a certified Poison Information Specialist at the CT Poison Control Center at UConn Health. She is the founder and leader of the UConn Campuses Chapter of the American Holistic Nurse Association.  She currently is an adjunct professor at Post University where she also serves on the RN-BSN  Advisory Board. She has held multiple positions in nursing education and clinical practice. 

Karen is certified as a Holistic Nurse, Pranakriya Yoga Instructor, Holistic Stress Management Instructor, ‘M” Technique instructor and as both a Reiki and Healing Touch practitioner.
